Investigation of the effects of pre-compression static stiffness and part life on single-layer rubber metal bushes

Summary
In the study, the effect of radial stiffness change and the precompression on the component life was investigated by applying a pre-compression process made of a single layer of rubber metal material. Finite element analysis (SEA) was used in the virtual design application of the precompression process. The MSC.Partan 2008 interface was used in the preparation of the analysis model and the evaluation of the results, the MSC.Marc 2008 r1 solver was used in the analysis. The prototypes produced to evaluate the accuracy of the material data used in the SEA and the applied method were tested in the analysis conditions and the results compared. At the last stage, the prototypes produced were subjected to life test for the purpose of examining the effect of the precompaction on the part life. As a result, reference graphs have been obtained in which the precompression ratio is used as a percentage of the component life and part radial stiffness values for use in a bushing design with a single layer rubber-metal pair.
